Vistek completed engineering design for three warehouses with Mass Timber structures in Erina, NSW. The warehouses incorporate retail, office and industrial spaces over two storeys. The structures will use CLT by XLam for the walls, floors, and roof. One of the warehouses, larger than the other two, will also incorporate steel portal frames. While we champion the advantages of Mass Timber, we are not timber purists – in some applications, the best results will come from the thoughtful paring of Mass Timber with other materials. Mass Timber is well suited to industrial spaces, where construction speed is often particularly highly valued. CLT can function for the wide open expanses vital for warehouses, as well as for the adjoining office and retail spaces. The result using Mass Timber is a much higher quality build than is often found in industrial spaces.
