Vistek first provided advisory and analysis services for the solar energy industry back in 2012. However, there has been a noticeable pick up in demand over the last few years.
Originally, Vistek was engaged by Vipac Engineers and Scientists to help verify testing methods for solar panel installations. For these projects we ensured that the tests would provide adequate evidence of compliance for the relevant Australian Standards and Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC) requirements.
More recently, Vistek has provided structural engineering services to Energy Aware for several large commercial solar panel installations. For these projects, Vistek first has to review the capacity of the existing buildings, such as supermarkets and warehouses. Most importantly, we have to make sure the buildings can support the solar panels and verify a safe installation method.
Of course, it’s not just us. A recent report found that 2018 saw a huge boom in solar energy uptake in Australia, largely driven by commercial factors. Overall, as solar technology improves and becomes more sustainable and economical, more and more businesses seem to be taking it up. Hopefully, this increase in demand for large scale solar energy projects is a sign of things to come.
